Vintage Rebel Soldier from the ESB toy line, 1980. The rebel soldier is seen here with his original Bespin Blaster (an odd choice of weapon!!) #starwars #esb
@stoner well he must have done something all day in his cave other than eat Jedi! Good luck with the resto!
@tomwaugh79 probably won't repaint it will see how it comes out first - currently looks like he smokes 40 a day!! Will post before and after photos once done - probably towards end of next week with a bit of luck
@stoner ha ha! He's a big guy, must need a big jar! I use a clear plastic storage box when I hydro something. I put oxy-clean in as well to clean off the surface dirt, seems to do the trick. You planning to touch-up the paint work? That's not something I've tried. Toy-palloi has some good videos on suitable colours to use and such. Do some before and after pics!!!
@tomwaugh79 cool. Yeah thankfully the arms aren't broken. Some paint loss on the nails but it quite badly yellowed. Going to use the hydro perox method as managed to get a jar big enough to fit him in today!
@stoner the toy-palloi wompa loose arms solution was ingenious! I tweeted retroblasting with a pic of one of the X wings i restored and thanked them for the videos....they said I'd done a great job! Was a nice tweet to wake up to!!
@tomwaugh79 yes I use both of them too. Am about to restore a hoth wampa soon!
@stoner retroblasting and toy-palloi are the main sources I use for videos on how to restore vintage toys. They are both really good. I love the Star Wars follies retroblasting videos - always make me laugh....poor battle damaged (blue) tie-fighter...😂😂
@tomwaugh79 yeah I saw that one it amused me greatly 😀
@stoner yeah, the retroblasting team are brilliant. The video on blasters is spot on - why does a rebel solider come with a Bespin blaster and not a rifle??!? Retroblasting did a good video on lightsabers as well. I share their bemusement!!!
@Tom have you watched the retroblasting video where he rants about the decisions made about the choices of weapons - it's quite amusing?!
