Evangeline - From my ‘Halloween 17’ collection
Well, I’m not certain where to start with this piece. So many elements. And so very opulent.
Evangeline has an antique Armand Marseille bisque head that I adorned with acrylics and oils. Swarovski eyebrows and bright blinking blue eyes that I plucked from another doll. Vintage 1970’s toddler glasses in champagne. Her body and limbs are vintage composition and painted and distressed by myself. She is also decoupaged with pieces of an old hand written French travel journal.
Evangeline’s skirt is vintage gold trim that I cut at random levels. It’s bound with a brown ribbon. Above her skirt is a ridiculously amazing thrift store bracelet. Around her neck is a brass ring and around her bodice, an absolutely stunning piece of antique ombré, metallic ribbon work - lined with rosettes. Beautiful. And set next to it, a funeral pin of her daughter. I made Evangeline some painted leg warmers and paired them with golden brocade slippers that I love.
Evangeline wears 1970’s drop earrings and has long and very full spiral and ombré handmade synthetic dreads that transition from blacks and browns to creams and platinum. The green pin cushion accent on her forehead is amazing. It is a vintage handmade wrist pin cushion that I have loaded up with rare hat pins that I have collected from all over the world. Including a funeral pin of Evangeline’s son. It really is stunning. A real cat skull (Cruelty Free) has glass eyes, golden tears and is held in place with two painted chopsticks. On its head, a vintage amber and rhinestone brooch. Then a skull swizzle stick.
Also on Evangeline you can find wax, resin, cord, wire, skull beads carved from bone, microbeads .. the list goes on. This was such a time consuming piece but it truly paid off. Very rich in colour. A beautiful addition to any collection. Evangeline comes with her own hanging kit.
Enjoy, Paul
