@murdock426 I don't know exactly what is true or not. It's probably like you said, just another way to produce and sell more pieces. The Jedi Training Remote is nice but I'd rather have your artist proof Boba Fett helmet.
@murdock426 Thanks again for sharing info. I'm always interested in hearing another collector's take on topics like this. I know what you mean about "artist proof" not meaning what it use to mean or what you would think that it would mean. I had heard that they used the artist proof as an example of how the numbered pieces should be painted.
@ccent320 the debate rages on about artist proof Vs numbered piece. There is no clear answer out there. What is clear is that what manufacturers are calling "Artist Proof" is not an artist proof in the traditional sense. A real artist proof is a product that is made and sent back to the artist/company for approval before the line goes into full swing. My understanding is that what passes as an artist proof in the current collectible world is a run of the product aside from the limited number run. Sort of a cheesy way for the company to pump out a few dozen or a hundred extra pieces. That being said. A piece out of the ??/100 AP line seems to be valued higher by buyers (in my experience) than the ??/1500 regular run. Put simply, I would pay more for an artist proof so I am sure others would too. And really, isn't that what's important? I have the remote too but not an AP. it's a nice piece.
One more question for you, do you know how much it increases the value of the piece being an artists proof? Also how many artists proofs were there for each piece? I ask because I have an artist proof of the Jedi training remote.
It is not currently for sale. I may reconsider in the future. There is one on eBay right now for sale. Item number 191650663632
@murdock426 is it for sale? If so how much
I have a bunch of Master Replicas Star Wars stuff. But this is one piece that I'm so mad that I missed out on. Such a nice piece.
@murdock426 too bad they didn't make it. This is pretty fantastic
I bought it from the a company called Master Replicas while they were still in business.
