From my ‘Halloween 17’ collection - Typhoid Nancy
All eyes on this sick beauty. Typhoid Nancy is just over 20 inches tall and comes with a hanging kit. I wired her composition body parts together and topped them off with an antique German bisque doll head that I painted and reworked with oils, pencil, glass eyes, thrift store earrings and a sculptural mane of dirty pink handmade and crocheted dreadlocks. I pull Nancy’s locks back and tied them into a pony that holds them out in a rounded style that creates a halo around her head.
Nancy’s dress is handmade from vintage fabrics. I belted the dress with a very cool thrift store bracelet made from these surreal green discs. I added a cool RockBar pin (my fave but sadly closed bar in Denver) as an accent. Her composition body parts I distressed with paints to create the look of a skin condition or disease. I then used a matte medium to adhere painted eyes on her limbs.
Nancy also features a vintage brooch, graphite rhinestones, wax, epoxy, wire, a resin ballerina, old arcade tokens, a rhinestone skull swizzle stick (all accented with paints and beads and waxed string) ... Vintage lingerie buttons, vintage beads, embroidery floss and the list goes on. Ah! I also made her a pocketbook from a very old aspirin tin and rusted wire.
Nancy is so sick in both a good and bad way. But don’t worry, she’s not contagious.
Enjoy, Paul
